Welcome to the BLOODHOUND SSC website. Here you should be able to find everything you need to know about this UK-led, global project to build a supersonic car that will not only beat the current land speed world record but also smash the 1,000mph barrier.
About the car
If you want to know what BLOODHOUND SSC is, this video is a great introduction to the car and the project.
You can also find out more about the car and where the record will be attempted in the Project section of our website:
And there are lots of fun facts for kids (and adults!) in our infographics.
We’ve got loads of ideas for activities for all age groups in the Education section of our website.
The Resources for Schools, Families and Groups are split up by Key Stage, so you can pick out ones that will be right for the age group you are working with.
You can download activity sheets in the Education section, but to make life easier we have put together a school resource pack which includes balloon car kits, chatterboxes and posters for whole classes. You can also find posters that tell you more about BLOODHOUND.
School visits and events
One of the key aspects of the BLOODHOUND project is to send ‘ambassadors’ around to schools, colleges and groups (such as after school clubs) to share the BLOODHOUND story and run fun, inspirational, hands-on projects with the kids. This way we aim to encourage more children to consider careers in science, technology, engineering and maths, or at least to engage more with those subjects during their time at school.
If you’d like one of us to visit your school, first you’ll need to register your school with us.
Once you have registered and logged in, you can request that a BLOODHOUND ambassador visit your school.
Another opportunity to engage with BLOODHOUND is at the special events where we take our full-size model of BLOODHOUND. Some of these are specifically targeted at young people, so keep an eye on our Events page for events happening near you.
For older students thinking of a career in Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths, have a look at our Careers page.
We have set up an online community for students and educators called BLOODHOUND Blast. There is a wealth of information on there, along with examples of what other schools have done and forums to share ideas and information.
