Join us for a Land Speed Record Experience, a unique opportunity to enjoy an audience with Richard Noble, BLOODHOUND Project Director and the former holder of the World Land Speed Record.
On Saturday 16 September, Richard will be making a special visit to the Coventry Transport Museum to give an inspiring and entertaining talk about the BLOODHOUND Project and the challenges faced by this amazing Engineering Adventure to set a new World Land Speed Record. Starting at 2.00pm, Richard will share his drive, determination and passion with you as he gives a presentation about the Project and he will have time for questions and answers before the end of the session at about 4.00pm.
Tickets for the event are on sale now: Adults £20, Children 6 – 16 £10, Under 5’s FREE (but please reserve a ticket!)
It’s a truly exciting time for the BLOODHOUND Project as work on the car continues in earnest in preparation for a unique moment in history when the car will leave the BLOODHOUND Technical Centre to make its first public runs at Cornwall Airport Newquay at the end of October this year.
As the driving force behind the last two land speed records, what better place to hear Richard talk but the Coventry Transport Museum, home of the Land Speed Record Exhibition where you can see both Thrust2 and ThrustSSC cars plus a life-sized replica of BLOODHOUND SSC made from K’NEX!
The project continues to inspire the next generation about science, technology, engineering and mathematics, so why not make it a family day out and come early and enjoy looking round the museum before Richard’s talk? You can even experience the thrill of breaking the World Land Speed Record for yourself on the new 4D Land Speed Record Simulator! Amongst other things, the museum has a fabulous exhibition called ‘Cartists’ this summer. Step into a world where art and engineering collide, and see cars as you’ve never seen them before in this incredible new exhibition. Cartists will bring together some of the best contemporary creativity in the UK for an exclusive and unique fusion of industrial design and artistic imagination. Taking inspiration from the Art Car movement, Coventry Transport Museum is challenging graffiti artists, lighting designers, 3D artists, graphic designers and more to create an extraordinary display of bespoke vehicles and artworks using cars or their parts. The museum is generously offering event ticket holders the chance to try out the simulator for a discounted price of £3.50 and to receive a discount of 10% on purchases made in the museum shop.
At the end of the event there will be an opportunity to buy some select BLOODHOUND merchandise including signed copies of the BLOODHOUND SSC book!
The event will take place on Saturday 16 September 2.00pm – 4.00pm at Coventry Transport Museum, Millennium Place, Hales Street, Coventry, CV1 1JD
