Claire Rocks - BLOODHOUND@University Coordinator

Claire RocksClaire coordinates the interaction between UK universities and The BLOODHOUND Project.  She brings to this role a PhD in Space Robotics from Aberystwyth University, during which she worked with the Beagle 2 team, as well as a keen interest in engaging audiences with Science and Engineering.

Throughout her PhD she was very interested in communicating Science and Engineering and took part in a number of initiatives including Researchers in Residence and NOISE (New Outlooks in Science and Engineering), as well as running weekly science clubs in local schools.  She has twice appeared on the Scrapheap Challenge Road Show building a tomato gun for Cheltenham Science Festival and racing a motorised fish tank at the Beaulieu Motor Museum!?
 
After completing her PhD, Claire took lead responsibility for coordinating the Walking with Robots network, providing support for robotics researchers to reach public audiences.  Claire has extensive experience in engaging with different audiences with Science and Engineering.  She has been involved in organising many activities on the subject of robotics, including a residential training programme for young researchers, a robotic visions conference, a parliamentary seminar on intelligent robotics and the UK’s first Festival of Robotics.
