AMETEK Solartron Metrology, leaders in precision linear measurement products, are delighted to be supporting the BLOODHOUND project, supplying our robust and accurate LVDT displacement sensors to the team.
As a world leader in the innovation, design and manufacture of precision sensors for quality control, test and measurement and machine control, our products provide customers with a wide selection of sensors fit for purpose, including precision digital and analogue dimensional LVDT gauging probes, displacement sensors, optical linear encoders and associated instrumentation. Our culture of striving to satisfy customer needs along with keeping ahead of innovation within our field have enabled us to grow into many markets, such as aerospace, automotive and electronics, with a global reach. In 2013 we will launch the new range of laser measurement instrumentation to compliment our contact probes.
Due to the robust nature of AMETEK Solartron Metrology LVDT technologies, with no wear and the ability to cope with fine dust as encountered in the South African desert, BLOODHOUND have opted for their use in more than one application. The understanding of the complexities and educational nature of the project have led to investigations into the displaced measurement of the steering wheel fixture and the position measurement of both the air brakes and the winglets. Further information about this technology can be found here.
The BLOODHOUND project is one that is aligned to that of AMETEK Solartron Metrology culture, with constant innovation and a drive to achieve perceivably impossible results. The project naturally incites excitement from the workforce here at Solartron Metrology HQ in West Sussex, pushing the boundaries of our engineering knowledge and expertise. Our previous involvement and support of the 1997 land speed record undertaken by the BLOODHOUND team, ThrustSSC, has put us in great stead to ensure a strong and successful product sponsorship, one we look forward to being part of.
